A message from Principal

A WORD FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Mr Macharia - Head TeacherThe school started in Westlands by concerned parents who could not secure a place for their children in the regular or existing special schools of the day. It was moved to its present ground and became a public school in 1991. The school is a mixed boarding school and caters for learners with intellectual challenges and learning disabilities. Learners are between ages seven and forty two years.

Mission: To provide teaching, training and rehabilitation to children and persons with intellectual challenges.

Vision: To be a model center for excellence in education, training and rehabilitation for children and persons with intellectual challenges.

The teaching staff is highly skilled in special needs education. Proper and specific orientation is done to all the non-teaching staff to enhance service delivery and increase motivation strategies which come in handy as a normal teaching strategies.

The spirit of togetherness and teamwork is an unavoidable circumstance. Our school is endowed with a lot of space but we do not have donors who would enable us put permanent classes or dormitories for the ever increasing number of learners. It is important to note that the children in the waiting list are ever increasing.

However, we look forward to your suggestions, contributions and donations in kind to enable us expand and accommodate more learners. We are in a dire need of a transition program that would create opportunities to learners in acquiring skills that would enable them go back to society and live independent lives.
I herein welcome you all to Treeside Special School Website, www.treesidespecialschool.sc.ke. I await your response.
